(April 11, 2013) – Global recording star Sarah Brightman’s highly anticipated 11th studio album Dreamchaser will be released on April 16. A pre-order of the album as well as its first single “One Day Like This” and the track “Angel” are available at various online retailers including iTunes and Amazon. The music video for “One Day Like This” premiered with the Wall Street Journal on March 21.
Inspired by the wonderment and beauty of space, Dreamchaser is a reflection of Brightman’s lifelong dream to travel into space. As announced last year in Moscow, Brightman is anticipated to be the first musician to travel to the International Space Station, turning her dream into reality.
Dreamchaser is collaboration with veteran producer Mike Hedges, known for his iconic work with the likes of U2, The Cure, Dido. The first single “One Day Like This” is a unique depiction of the legendary British band Elbow’s single. The album also features “Closer” a breathtaking new arrangement of Tubular Bell’s of which Mike Oldfield said, “Never would have believed in 1972, I would be listening to this 41 years later. Superb new arrangement – such an honor.” Furthering the mystique of the album, Brightman delivers many other incredible songs including an astounding rendition of Sigur Ros’ “Glosoli.”, which features new English lyrics written by Chris Difford (Squeeze)
The album is already receiving the kind of accolades one has come to expect from a new Sarah Brightman release; from the exclusive video premiere for "One Day Like This" with The Wall Street Journal to a pre-release album stream through USA Today and from outlets such as CNN.
Sarah will also make a special appearance on the album’s release date, Tuesday, April 16th 5:00 pm EDT, at the Barnes and Noble on Manhattan’s Upper East Side at 150 East 86th Street to sign copies of the new album for fans.
Brightman said "I'm excited to be releasing Dreamchaser. This album was recorded at a particularly exciting time of my life with a number of new adventures beginning to materialize. The music has been informed by not only my past experiences but also my future aims and aspirations. I'm delighted with the new music. I hope that my fans will also enjoy participating in this musical journey with me".
Dreamchaser follows the global success of Brightman’s last album Symphony, which was released in 2008 and went on to sell close to 3 million units worldwide.
The Dreamchaser World Tour kicks off in China June 2013, with the North American leg of the tour beginning on September 13th in Hamilton, Ontario. A complete listing of all Canada and US concert dates can be found here.
A global recording artist, music icon, actress and humanitarian, Brightman is among the world’s most prominent performers, with global sales of more 30 million units and more than 180 gold and platinum awards in more than 40 countries. She is also the only artist to have simultaneously topped the Billboard dance and classical music charts.
